The Short Version
We built Getta Hall Pass™ to be as privacy-friendly as possible. Here's what you should know:
Your passes stay on your phone. Your name, your people, and your entire pass history are stored on your device. They are not stored on our servers, and we cannot see or access them.
No account required. There is no sign-up, no email address, no password, and no phone number. You pick a first name and an emoji, and that's it.
Our server is a mailbox, not a filing cabinet. When you send a request or an answer, it passes through our relay so it can reach the other phone. The receiving phone deletes it the moment it picks it up. Anything never picked up is discarded automatically.
We don't sell your data. Ever. To anyone.
We don't run ads. No ad networks, no tracking pixels, no behavioral profiling.
We don't use analytics. Getta Hall Pass™ contains no analytics tools of any kind. We do not measure how you use the app, and we do not know how many passes you send.
Notifications never contain your words. A notification tells you who did something and what kind of thing it was. The words you type are never included.
You can erase everything. One button in the app deletes every trace of Getta Hall Pass™ from your phone and retires your pairing code.
About Us and Our Services
This Privacy Policy is published by UMANERA LLC, doing business as Getta Hall Pass™ ("Umanera," "Getta Hall Pass™," "we," "us," or "our"). While our primary contact address is support@gettahallpass.com, please note that responses to your inquiries may come from hello@umanera.com, the official email address of UMANERA LLC. If you receive an email from hello@umanera.com in response to a message you sent to support@gettahallpass.com, it is a legitimate communication from us. The services offered by us (referred to as the "Services") include, but are not limited to, websites, mobile applications, software, and social media profiles owned, operated, or published by Umanera. The scope of our Services may expand or change over time, and this Privacy Policy applies to all current and future Services provided by or through Umanera, regardless of the medium or platform through which they are accessed.
Overview
Getta Hall Pass™ is a way to ask someone you trust for permission, and to get a yes, a no, or a "yes, if…" back on your phone. Two people pair with each other using a code or a QR scan, and both sides have to accept before anything can be sent.
The app is built so that your content lives on your phone and nowhere else. There are two exceptions, and both are unavoidable if the app is going to work at all:
Messages in flight. A pass request, an answer, a note, a condition, or a reply has to travel from your phone to the other person's phone. It moves through our relay server and waits there until their phone picks it up. Their phone deletes it on pickup. If it is never picked up, it is discarded automatically after fourteen days.
A pairing address. Your phone registers anonymously with our relay and receives a random identifier and a pairing code. That is how the relay knows where to deliver a message. The identifier is not connected to your name, your email, your phone number, or your device's advertising identifier, because we never ask for any of those.
We do not keep a copy of delivered messages. We do not build a history of who you paired with, what you asked for, or what anyone said.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of outside providers to make the app work. We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking provider.
Supabase. Hosts the relay described above, including anonymous sign-in and the temporary mailbox. Supabase processes data on our behalf under its own privacy terms.
Cloudflare. Runs a one-time "are you human" check the first time your phone registers with the relay. This protects the service from automated abuse. The check does not identify you.
Expo. Delivers push notifications. When someone answers your request, a notification is sent through Expo's push service to your phone. It contains the other person's provided name and the type of event, never the words you or they typed.
Apple and Google. Distribute the app and operate the notification systems on your device. Their handling of your data is governed by their own policies.
What We Collect
Stored on your phone only, never on our servers:
The first name, emoji, and color you choose for yourself
The people you have paired with, including their chosen first name, emoji, and color
Your pass history, including titles, details, notes, conditions, replies, and dates
Your settings, your blocked list, and your emoji and color choices
Held briefly on our relay:
Messages in flight, as described above, deleted by the receiving phone on pickup and discarded automatically after fourteen days if never delivered
Held on our relay for as long as you use the app:
A random, anonymous identifier for your phone
Your current pairing code, which you can replace at any time from the You tab
The app quietly tells the relay it is still in use, at most once a day, and nothing else is recorded about that. If an installation stops checking in for twelve months, we assume it was deleted and its registration is removed automatically. Erasing everything from inside the app removes it immediately instead. The registration belongs to that installation rather than to the device, so deleting the app and installing it again gives you a brand new one.
If you email us:
Your email address and whatever you choose to write. We delete your email address and any other personally identifiable information within 30 days, and may retain your message in anonymized form to help improve the app.
If you report a problem:
Tapping "Report a problem" on a pass prepares an email to us that contains the anonymous identifier of the phone you are reporting, the anonymous identifier of your own phone, the identifier of that pass, when it was created, and the app version. It never includes the title, details, notes, conditions or replies that either of you typed, because we cannot read them. You write your own description of what happened before you send it.
Apart from what you choose to send us by email, we do not collect your real name, your email address, your phone number, your contacts, your location, your advertising identifier, or any biometric information. We do not ask for them, and the app has no field in which to enter them.
Device Permissions
The app asks for very little, and each permission has exactly one purpose:
Camera. Used only to scan another person's pairing QR code. No photo or video is recorded, saved, or transmitted. You can skip scanning entirely and type the code by hand instead.
Notifications. Optional. Used only to tell you that someone answered you, sent you something, or used a pass you gave them. You can turn this off in the app or in your phone's settings at any time.
Calendar. Only used when you tap "Add to calendar" on an approved pass. The app opens your phone's own new-event screen with the details filled in. Nothing is written to your calendar unless you confirm it yourself, and the app does not read your existing events.
The app does not use your microphone, your location, your photo library, your contacts, or your health data.
Analytics
Getta Hall Pass™ contains no analytics software. We do not collect usage statistics, event logs, screen views, session lengths, crash telemetry, or any other measurement of how the app is used. Our server keeps one running total of passes sent across the whole service, not you, with no identifier, device, date or content attached to it, and that single number is the only thing of its kind we have.
Ads
We do not run ads in Getta Hall Pass™. There are no ad networks, no tracking pixels, no third-party advertising SDKs, and no behavioral profiling. We do not share any information with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not sell your information.
How Information is Used
The limited information described above is used for one purpose: to make the app work. Specifically, to deliver a message from your phone to the phone of a person you have paired with, to let that person's phone find yours when you share your pairing code, to notify you that something happened, and to protect the service from automated abuse.
We do not use your information to profile you, to advertise to you, to train models, or for any purpose unrelated to running the app.
Social Media
We may publish social media profiles for Getta Hall Pass™. Anything you post publicly on those profiles is visible to others and is governed by the policies of that platform in addition to ours. Please do not share private information in a public post.
How We Protect Information
Your content is stored on your phone and is protected by your device's own security, including your passcode, Face ID, or fingerprint. Anyone with access to your unlocked phone can see your passes, so protect your device accordingly.
Messages in flight travel over encrypted connections. Our relay is configured so that only the intended recipient's phone can read or delete a message addressed to it, and so that no phone can read another phone's mailbox or browse the list of pairing codes.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Data and Your Phone
Please read this carefully, because it is unusual.
Because your passes live only on your phone, they exist in exactly one place. If you lose your phone, delete the app, or reset your device, your people and your entire pass history are gone permanently. We do not hold a backup, and we cannot recover anything for you. There is no account to sign back in to.
This is a deliberate trade. It is the reason we cannot read your passes, and it is also the reason we cannot restore them.
Your Rights
You are in control of everything the app holds, directly from within the app:
Delete a single pass from its detail screen, or delete your whole history at once from the Passes tab.
Finished passes delete themselves. Every pass is removed from your phone automatically 30 days after it ends. You can also delete any pass sooner, or clear your whole history at once.
Remove a person. This deletes every pass between the two of you from your phone, tells their phone to remove you, and gives you a new pairing code.
Block a person, which silently drops everything it ever sends you.
Get a new pairing code at any time, which retires the old one immediately.
Erase everything with one button in the You tab. This deletes all app data from your phone and removes your registration from our relay. See the instructions in the Delete Your Data page.
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. For any additional privacy request, contact us at support@gettahallpass.com.
California Privacy Rights
California residents who use Getta Hall Pass™ may request information about any personal data we have collected from them. Getta Hall Pass™ collects minimal personal information. There is no account, and your content is stored on your device rather than on our servers, so in most cases there is no personal data for us to disclose. If you contact us directly, we retain your message content in anonymized form and delete your email address and any other personally identifiable information within 30 days. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, contact us at support@gettahallpass.com.
Information for Users in Canada
If you live in Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and in some provinces a provincial privacy law, applies to the personal information we hold about you.
As described above, that is very little. In most cases it is nothing at all, and at most it is your email address if you wrote to us, or the anonymous identifiers in a report. You may ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, by writing to support@gettahallpass.com. We will respond within 30 days.
The person accountable for personal information at UMANERA LLC is its Owner, who can be reached at support@gettahallpass.com or at 100 N Howard St, Ste R, Spokane, WA 99201, USA. The information described in this policy is processed and stored in the United States, by us and by the service providers named above, and may be accessible to authorities there under United States law.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or to your provincial privacy commissioner.
Quebec. The person in charge of the protection of personal information at UMANERA LLC is its Owner, reachable at support@gettahallpass.com or at 100 N Howard St, Ste R, Spokane, WA 99201, USA. Personal information may be communicated outside Quebec, to the United States, for the purposes described in this policy. You may also complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
Privacy Notice for Users in Mexico
This section is our privacy notice (aviso de privacidad) under Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties.
Who is responsible for your data. UMANERA LLC, 100 N Howard St, Ste R, Spokane, WA 99201, USA. Contact: support@gettahallpass.com.
What personal data we process. The anonymous identifier assigned to your phone; your email address and whatever you write, only if you contact us; and, only if you report a problem, the details described under "If you report a problem" above. We do not process sensitive personal data.
Why we process it. Only to provide the app: to deliver messages between phones that have paired with each other, to let a phone you share your pairing code with find yours, to protect the service from automated abuse, and to answer you when you write to us. These purposes are necessary for the service. We have no secondary purposes. We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or profiling.
Limiting use and disclosure. Because we use your data for nothing beyond running the app, there is no other use to limit. You can stop all processing at any time with "Erase everything" in the You tab, or by deleting the app.
Who we share it with. Only the service providers named above (Supabase, Cloudflare, and Expo), which process it on our behalf in the United States. We do not transfer your personal data to any third party for that party's own use.
Your ARCO rights. You may access, rectify, or cancel your personal data, oppose its processing, or revoke your consent, by writing to support@gettahallpass.com. Please describe your request and include what we need to locate your data, such as the email address you wrote to us from. We will respond within the time limits set by Mexican law. Most of your data lives only on your phone, where you can see, change, and delete it yourself at any time.
Changes to this notice. Any change will be published on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
Authority. If you believe your rights have been infringed, you may turn to the Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno, the Mexican authority responsible for personal data protection.

We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or store personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are under 18, do not use Getta Hall Pass™ or provide any information through the app or its services.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, we will take prompt steps to delete that information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app, please contact us at support@gettahallpass.com and we will assist you.

Information for European Union / EEA Users (GDPR)
Getta Hall Pass™ is not currently offered in the European Union or the European Economic Area. If that changes, or if you access the app from there, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation regarding your personal data.
Because Getta Hall Pass™ is designed to collect minimal personal information, the only personal data we may hold about you is your email address, and only if you contacted us directly. The anonymous identifier assigned to your phone is not linked to your name or to any contact detail. All of your app content is stored exclusively on your device, and messages in transit are deleted on delivery, so we cannot access them.
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to object to or restrict our processing of your data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@gettahallpass.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you believe we have not handled your data in accordance with applicable law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
By using Getta Hall Pass™, you acknowledge that your data may be processed and stored in the United States, which may have different data protection standards than those in your country. Where required by law, we rely on your consent as the legal basis for any such processing.
International Transfers of Information
Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may be applicable to your data depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.
Future Changes
We can and will update our privacy policy in the future. Visit this page to be aware of the policy you are agreeing to by using our services.
